I’m not bad. I’m just drawn that way.”

From: Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Genre: Movies

Who said it?: Jessica Rabbit

The story behind the quote: The quote comes from the 1988 movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The movie was groundbreaking for several reasons. While it wasn’t the first movie to mix live action and animation, it was probably one of the best ones to do so as the actors and animated characters blended seemlessly together. The second reason was the amazing mix of animated characters, with Disney and Looney Tunes characters both in the same film for the first time.

The quote comes from the middle of the film from Jessica Rabbit (voiced by Kathleen Turner) and Roger Rabbit’s husband. Jessica pleads to Eddie Valiant (played by Bob Hoskins) to help find her husband, who is now on the run for suspicion of murder. Jessica comments that it’s difficult to be as beautiful as she is. She then delivers the quote to emphasize that she is the way she is.

Geek wisdom: Sometimes, our circumstances in life will determine what we’ll be. There are going to be people who just haven’t had all the opportunities or have stuff thrust on us that we cannot control. But just because you don’t have all the opportunities, that doesn’t mean you have to let it control your life. You will have times to change those circumstances and make it work for you. Much like Jessica Rabbit, she uses the way she was drawn to her advantage.

Most of my childhood (and adult life) was spent doing a lot of geeky stuff: watching TV, playing video games and going to the movies. To some, it may have been a waste of time. Well, to me, it has made me what I am today... a geeky adult. I actually write for a couple of blogs, namely: geekwisdom.wordpress.com 3rdworldgeeks.com gamemoir.com Please check them out!
