The story behind the quote: This week’s quote comes from the Comedy Central animated show, South Park. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show focuses on four kids, Kenny, Kyle, Stan and Eric Cartman, who live in the town of South Park. The show mainly makes fun of the absurdity of life as well as how absurd life can be.

The quote comes from the episode “You Have 0 Friends.” Kyle’s Facebook friends are un-friending him because he friended a kid name Kip Drodry. Cartman suggests dropping him so his friends will return. When Kyle disagrees with the plan, the two go on Chatroulette to try to make new friends online. However, they keep on being matched with people showing their penises. Kyle wants to quit but Cartman says they have to keep going before delivering the quote.

Geek wisdom: In a way, what Cartman said is true. You are going to meet a lot of people in the world (or on Facebook) but not everyone is going to be nice nor will you want to be their friend. However, this is the only way to make friends. You have to get out there and meet people.

Sure, you will meet terrible people but you will also meet some wonderful people you will want to be friends with.

Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show usually focuses on topical topics and parodies them in some (absurd) way.

This week’s quote comes from Stan’s Uncle Jimbo. As an avid hunter, he is displeased that there are laws that protect certain endangered wildlife. However, he has found a loophole regarding the law as it is permitted to shoot anything as long as you’re about to be attacked by any creature. As such, he says the quote before each time he shoots and kills something.

Geek wisdom: There will always be bad people who will try to find ways to skirt the rules or common decency as long as it will suit their purposes. They will search for excuses to get away with bad behavior or justify what they do. It may be difficult but we have to stand our moral ground, even when times are tough.

The story behind the quote: The quote comes from the hugely popular Comedy Central animated show, South Park. The show revolves around four boys, Stan Marsh, Kenny McCormick, Kyle Broflovski and Eric Cartman. Definitely not a cartoon for kids as South Park has a lot of profanity, dirty jokes, adult themes and dark humor

One of the running gags that really nailed the dark humor aspect was how Kenny McCormick would usually get killed in some way during the show. While Kenny dying doesn’t happen every episode, like during the first five seasons of the show, when he does, Stan would usually deliver the quote with Kyle following it up by calling whoever (or whatever) killed their friend a bastard.

Geek wisdom: Our time in this world can end suddenly and abruptly. Our end may come when we’re old and just expire due to our age. Or it could come out of no where out of the blue tomorrow. We always have to live life to our fullest and make the most of our time on this planet while we can.

The show revolves around the small Colorado town of South Park and each story usually revolves around Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Kenny McCormick and Eric Cartman. The creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, usually use the show to parody and satirize current events and to show how ridiculous things really are.

The quote comes from Margaritaville, the third episode of the thirteenth episode of the show. Stan received a check of $100 and his father encourages him to put it in the bank. However, instead of putting the money in a normal account, the bank clerk preemptively invests the money in a mutual fund, which was not a great idea…

Geek wisdom: It’s really easy to fall into the trap of thinking that we have all the time in the world. Whether it be objects we cherish, our loved ones and even the time we spend on this earth, we believe that it’ll all be there tomorrow. But we usually regret it when these things are taken away from us without notice. We regret not spending time with the things we cherish until it’s, well, until it’s gone.

We have to treasure the time we have here as well as the things we love. That’s because we never know when it will be taken away from us.

The story behind the quote: South Park comes from the twisted minds of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The show revolves around the residents of a small community in Colorado. Most of the stories are from the viewpoint of four children, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. A lot of the humor comes from the general weirdness of the residents and every episode comes from putting a spin on the ridiculousness of life. The show will poke fun at different topics that Trey and Matt want to make fun of, such as religion, politics and even pop culture.

One episode, aptly called Sexual Harassment Panda, has a person dressed up in a panda outfit trying to teach children about how bad sexual harassment is. Unfortunately, the only message Cartman heard after the speech is that you can sue anyone you feel has harassed you before. However, that’s beside the point. I just wanted to show you the speech of Sexual Harassment Panda because there is some wisdom(?) to his words… and its just funny.

Geek wisdom: People and society tell us that we should not show our emotions and bottle them up. Guys will be ridiculed if they cry while watching a movie. Women are taught that they have to hide feeling of love and play hard to get.

We have to be honest with our feelings. Our emotions are a part of us and make us unique from other people. We shouldn’t let others tell us what to feel in certain situations. We shouldn’t be ashamed to express how we feel. In fact, displaying our emotions will give other people a deeper understanding into our very being.
