The story behind the quote: This week’s quote comes from the Comedy Central animated show, South Park. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show focuses on four kids, Kenny, Kyle, Stan and Eric Cartman, who live in the town of South Park. The show mainly makes fun of the absurdity of life as well as how absurd life can be.
The quote comes from the episode “You Have 0 Friends.” Kyle’s Facebook friends are un-friending him because he friended a kid name Kip Drodry. Cartman suggests dropping him so his friends will return. When Kyle disagrees with the plan, the two go on Chatroulette to try to make new friends online. However, they keep on being matched with people showing their penises. Kyle wants to quit but Cartman says they have to keep going before delivering the quote.
Geek wisdom: In a way, what Cartman said is true. You are going to meet a lot of people in the world (or on Facebook) but not everyone is going to be nice nor will you want to be their friend. However, this is the only way to make friends. You have to get out there and meet people.
Sure, you will meet terrible people but you will also meet some wonderful people you will want to be friends with.
