From: Star Wars
Who said it?: C3-P0
The story behind the quote: As much as I love the Star Wars films, it’s difficult to find clips on YouTube where the characters actually say the quotes since they’re usually taken down immediately. This was one of those quotes I wanted to write about when I started this site but I was never able to find a clip of the said quote… until now.
The quote comes from the first Star Wars film. R2-D2 and Chewbacca are playing a form of chess and Artoo is beating the wookie. Chewie starts “complaining” about losing and C3-P0 states that he has no right to complain. Han Solo then chimes in and says that there are certain “bad” things that can happen if you emerge victorious over Chewbacca’s species. It’s then Threepio delivers the quote to Artoo.
Geek wisdom: Winning isn’t everything. While it does feel good to actually display your dominance over someone during a game of chess or any other form of competition, it’s not the most important thing in the world. In the grand scheme of things, it’s still a game.

winning isn’t everything especially if you value your arms and how they’re attached to your body
i realize my comment is useless after watching the clip.
To under stand Star Wars, go to the beginning. Lucas said that it was the art work of Maxfield Parrish that directly inspired the feel and look of Star Wars films, page 282, The Lucas Effect. Parrish created that art work on the Parrish estate in the art studio that he created- would that mean that Star Wars truly began in 1904 ? I believe so. I own the last documentary film footage of the DESTROYED iconic art studio of Maxfield Parrish maxfieldparrishmotif.com – This is a story worthy of helping. It must go global so all answers can happen. I am sitting on a lost chapter in art and Star Wars history. This info unlocks info for Star Wars and Lucas. I wish for Lucas to read what I own- he would find it interesting. Let us get this story global and that is what we should do. I have worked on this for years with excellent theories and answers. Their is more here maxfieldparrishmovie.com – this is vital information to all Star Wars fans and also to the world of Maxfield Parrish and his model, Sue Lewin. Thank u, Robin Lee, Maine
Epic story out of the UK, new Leia, Lucas info, fantastic stuff, feed the minds.
( The Game of Nerds origins of Star Wars the case for Maxfield Parrish). look it up!
Pass this story all over the planet.
Actually what C3-PO said was “Let the Wookiee win.” I realized this when telling a friend what a great gridspanning entry this would be in a standard daily crossword puzzle. Alas (as my friend pointed out) I had the same misspelling.
