The story behind the quote: This week’s quote comes from the Cartoon Network classic show, Dexter’s Laboratory. The show is all about a boy genius named Dexter who has somehow build a complex lab unbeknownst to his parents. Unfortunately, his ditsy and nosy big sister, Deedee is fully aware of Dexter and his laboratory and she has made it a habit of messing around with his inventions.
The quote itself comes from the episode, aptly titled The Big Cheese. In order to prepare for a French exam, Dexter rigs a gadget wherein a French subliminal record will directly pump the language into his brain while he’s asleep. Unfortunately, the record gets stuck on the French phrase for “cheese omelette” and this renders Dexter able to only say the phrase. Surprisingly, this gives Dexter a new found level of fame and popularity and life seems good… until the very end of the episode, of course.
Geek wisdom: While the proper words are important, it’s equally important how you say those words. Sometimes, it’s not even the words that matter. A lot of the times, it’s going to be the way you say the words and how you express yourself when saying it. Make sure that, when talking to someone, you also communicate what you mean using tone and expressions.
