“Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today!”

From: Phineas and Ferb

Genre: Cartoons, Television

Who said it?: Phineas

The story behind the quote: The quote comes from the Disney animated series Phineas and Ferb. The show revolves around Phineas and Ferb, two brothers who, thanks to their inventive minds as well as engineering skills, manage to create and build various fantastical object in order to enjoy themselves during their summer vacation. Their sister, Candace, always wants to “bust [her] brothers” by telling on them to their mom. However, Phineas and Ferb’s creations usually vanish before their mom arrives. This is usually due to some mishap, usually caused by their pet platypus, Perry, who also a secret agent, and his nemesis Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

The quote is usually spoken by Phineas, who, in each episode, exclaims it to his brother Ferb when he comes up with a plan on what their plans are for the day.

The clip below actually comes from “Rollercoaster: The Musical”… because I couldn’t really find a good clip where Phineas delivers the quote.

Geek wisdom: We just love to postpone things. We always come up with various excuses why we don’t do our chores or start that project we’ve always dreamed of doing. We like to say we don’t have the time or we want to get all our ducks in a row before we do it. However, things will never get done unless we start it.

Actually, this blog is a testament of biting the bullet and actually starting it. I envisioned My Geek Wisdom a long time ago and, after months of contemplation, it was released roughly five years ago on September 4. I wouldn’t be doing this for five years already if I hadn’t started then. So, don’t waste time and seize the day!

“Aren’t you a little young to build a rollercoaster?”

From: Phineas and Ferb

Genre: Cartoons, Television

Who said it?: Various delivery people

The story behind the quote: This quote comes from a very recent cartoon from Disney called Phieas and Ferb. The overall story is pretty unique. Each episode consist of two stories happening at the same time. First, there are two brothers, Phineas and Ferb, who do fantastic things, such as building a rocket, fighting a mummy and climbing up the Eiffel Tower, to name a few. Candace, their older sister, always tries to tell their mom about this the mother never gets to witness it (she just thinks they have such wonderful imaginations).

The reason why the mother never sees these acts because of the second story. The brother’s pet platypus, Perry, is actually a secret agent who stops the evil “genius,” Dr. Doofenshmirtz, from taking over “the entire Tri-State area!” While stopping the doctor from using his latest invention, Perry inadvertently destroys Phineas and Ferb’s invention.

The quote actually comes from the various delivery persons who delivers the materials for the brother’s inventions. As they are pretty young to be building something like a rocket, they ask Phineas and Ferb that they seem to be too young to be constructing something like that. To which Phineas always replies, “Yes. Yes, we are.”

The clip below comes from “Rollercoaster: The Musical,” where the boys construct another rollercoaster in their backyard… only as a musical.

Geek wisdom: When it comes to dreams, there is no such thing as age. You’re never too old or too young to follow your dreams. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Sometimes, you just need to take the chance. Just make sure to pursue it to the end.
