From: Pinal Destination Bloodlines
Genre: Movies
Who said it?: William John Bludworth
The story behind the quote: This week’s quote comes from the 2025 supernatural horror film, Final Destination Bloodlines. Currently the final film of the Final Destination franchise, the film follows the general plot of the previous movies but with a twist. Usually, in the older movies, a group of kids manage to escape from a mass tragedy that would have killed them but death eventually catches up with the. In Final Destination Bloodlines, death not only goes after the people who managed to escape the mass tragedy but also their descendants.
The quote comes in the middle of the film. The grandchildren of the people who escaped the tragedy track down a man named JB, who is supposed to have managed to defeat death. It turns out that JB is William John Bludworth (played by Tony Todd), a character who has appeared in almost all the Final Destination films. William Bludworth tells them that there is a way to cheat death and that is to die themselves, essentially fulfilling death’s requirements. The kids don’t accept this but he tells them he’s tired and he’s going to die soon as he is suffering from terminal cancer. He then packs up his things and tells the kids that he is going to make the most of whatever time he still has before delivering the quote.
It should be noted that, at the time Final Destination Bloodlines was being filmed, actor Tony Todd was actually suffering from terminal cancer just like his character, making his final words even more poignant.
Geek wisdom: While we can do all sorts of things to try to extend our life, we will all eventually expire. As such, we shouldn’t spend too much time about trying to life a long life. Rather, we should focus on trying to live life to the fullest.
