“But in times of crisis, the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.”

From: Black Panther

Genre: Movies

Who said it?: King T’Challa

The story behind the quote: This week’s quote come from the 2018 Marvel superhero film, Black Panther. The movie focuses on the newly crowned King T’Challa of Wakanda. On the outside, the country of Wakanda seems like a impoverished country but, underneath it all, it’s actually a very technologically advanced nation thanks to the enormous amount of vibranium in the land. When Wakanda is threatened by outside forces, King T’Challa dons the Black Panther suit to defeat them.

The quote comes during the after credits scene. Realizing that isolating themselves when other nations are struggling is wrong, King T’Challa (played by the late Chadwick Boseman) delivers a speech to the United Nations, stating how every country and everyone in the planet must treat each other as if they were one tribe. He delivers the quote during the speech.

Geek wisdom: Especially during times of crises, all of us have to work together. It’s the only way we can get through them and fighting among ourselves is not the long lasting answer to our planet’s survival.

Most of my childhood (and adult life) was spent doing a lot of geeky stuff: watching TV, playing video games and going to the movies. To some, it may have been a waste of time. Well, to me, it has made me what I am today... a geeky adult. I actually write for a couple of blogs, namely: geekwisdom.wordpress.com 3rdworldgeeks.com gamemoir.com Please check them out!

  1. During your research for the article did you learn who ACTUALLY created the quote? The writer at Marvel who wrote the speech for that scene? It is an injustice that they never get recognition for these powerful words.
