The story behind the quote: This week’s quote comes from the Netflix series, Stranger Things. The show borrows a lot of atmosphere from ’80s sci-fi teen shows as, appropriately, it is set in the time period. The show generally revolves around a group of friends who discover a mysterious girl named Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) who has developed psychic powers thanks to experiments performed on her.
The quote actually is initially mentioned by Mike Wheeler (played by Finn Wolfhard) when trying to convince Eleven he’s a friend. However, the quote is delivered with much more impact later when Eleven delivers it later on when the gang tries to make amends for all the misunderstandings that happened.
Geek wisdom: True friends will tell the truth to each other. The truth may hurt but, if that person is someone you trust, then you know they are telling it to you because they really care for you.
