The story behind the quote: This week’s quote comes from the 2016 Marvel superhero film, Doctor Strange. The film focuses on Stephen Strange, a skilled surgeon who loses his fine tuned motor skills in a car accident. In an attempt to heal his hands, he travels to Tibet. Under the tutelage of the Ancient One, he instead becomes trained in the mystic arts and becomes the Sorcerer Supreme, dedicated to defending this dimension from Dormammu of the Dark Dimension.
The quote comes near the end of the film. Doctor Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) enters the Dark Dimension to talk to Dormammu. However, before he does talk to that dimension’s ruler, Strange casts a spell using the Eye of Agamotto (which actually houses the Time Stone) before delivering the quote to Dormammu… several times.
Geek wisdom: When talking to someone you know will not play fair, you may have to use dirty tactics yourself. While it may not seem like the “honest” or even the “honorable” thing to do, this may be the only way to get a “fair” deal from them. Sometimes, the end does justify the means.
