The story behind the quote: This week’s quote comes from the romantic comedy anthology film, Love Actually. As this is an anthology movie, Love Actually features multiple shorter stories somewhat interconnected with each other but all the stories all take place during the Christmas season.
The quote comes near the end of the first story, Billy Mack and Joe. Aging music legend Billy Mack (played by Bill Nighy) puts out a Christmas song which surprisingly becomes a big hit. He is invited to a Christmas party hosted by Elton John. However, while there, he realizes what the true meaning of Christmas is to him and he goes to the apartment of Joe (played by Gregor Fisher), his longtime manager who’s always supported him through thick and thin. When Joe asks Billy Mack why isn’t he partying over at Elton John’s place, Billy Mack replies with the quote.
Geek wisdom: “Your loved ones” doesn’t necessarily mean your family. Rather, “your loved ones” are the ones you really care for. As this is the holiday season, now would be the best time to be with them and show your appreciation to these people.
