The quote comes from the very last episode of the series, Nice While It Lasted. Bojack Horseman and his ghostwriter and close friend, Diane Nguyen (voiced by Alison Brie), are on a rooftop contemplating on the fact that they may not see each other again. Bojack says that life is terrible then we die. Diane, in reply, delivers the quote.
